To all of the family of Mr. Franklin, It was an honor to have known him and he touched every scout in a special way! My son, Charles Guinchard, joined Troop 85 in the last few years that Mr. Franklin was active. He was very influential in Charles scouting career and was part of the motivation for Charles to continue on in scouts! Charles went all the way to Eagle and now attends college in Alaska pursuing a life in the outdoors that he learned to love in Troop 85. Mr. Franklin was an inspiration and is fondly remembered. Thank you for sharing him with the scouts over the years.

Please accept my sincerest condolences on the passing of George. I didn't learn about it until last night when I attended our troop meeting. I am a former Scoutmaster for Troop 85 and George was my mentor. He was also responsible for helping me receive the Silver Beaver Award. I told the boys last night that George Franklin lived the Scout Oath and Law everyday of his life and was the epitome of what Scouting represents. He will be sorely missed. Bob

Please accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss. Mr. Franklin was a kind and generous man. He was my scoutmaster in Troop 85 when I was a Boy Scout. I was one of 5 members of the troop who became Eagle Scouts under his guidance. That time of my life had a profound influence on the person I grew to become, and a large part of that is due to Mr. Franklin. I will always remember his stories and words of wisdom from campfires from those days. I don't know as if I ever had a chance to thank him for making such a difference in my life, however, he will indeed be greatly missed.
