Gaetano "Guy" Louis Ranatza's Obituary
Gaetano “Guy” Louis Ranatza passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023. He was born in Harahan, LA on November 29, 1932.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Lapeyrouse Ranatza of 65 years; his children, Gay Ranatza Mueller (Gary), Gail Ranatza Parker (Jr), Gary Ranatza (Lisa) and Gene Ranatza (Cheryl) and someone he loved as a daughter, Cheryl Walraven; his grandchildren Brandon Parker, Kasey Austin, Gene Ryan Ranatza, Jacob Ranatza, Ashleigh Ranatza, Nicholas Ranatza, Grace Mosley, Chloe Ranatza. He was the son of the late Thelma Cantrell Ranatza and Joseph Ranatza; brother of Teresa Ranatza, and the late Joseph Ranatza, Rene Ranatza, Thelma Seghers, Milton “Boogie” Ranatza, Yvonne Gambino D’Arcy, Delores Parks and John King. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends.
Guy served during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He retired from Southern Pacific Railroad. He also was the owner and chef of Bino’s Restaurant in Bogalusa to fulfill his love of cooking.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Ranatza may be made to Wounded Warriors Project or the American Cancer Society.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Friday, March 3, 2023, at 11:00 AM with visitation on Friday beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in the Southeast LA Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Rd, Slidell, LA at 1:30 PM.
