i arrived at the abbey in june 1963 for latin summer school on sunday aft. iheard the monks chanting vespers and fr. dominics voice. iwas in the polyphonic and looked forward to pactice each friday. i am sad and his passing is truly the passage of an era at the abbey. goddesses bless.
My heart is saddened at the loss of Fr Dominic.
Memories go back to the early '60's when my brother was at St Ben's. Hearing him and his schola cantorum was one of my childhood mystical memories of heavenly chant.
His Praise the Lord inspired me and i am glad i acted on it in thanks for his art.

Fr. Dominic was my Latin teacher during in 1963 at St. Ben's and I will always remember his method of teaching particulalry of his reference to his fingers as mini digitus. Although I did not stay at St. Ben's, I will always remember fondly his beautiful voice and the Gregorian Chant. I last saw him at midnight mass on Christmas Eve but regret not having the chance to tell him hello after mass. He will be in my prayers along with his family and I know he is leading the choir in heaven!
Father Dominick (or Nick as I knew him) and I were both students of Mike and Florence Presti. It was my privilege to sing many programs with Nick. He had such a beautiful voice and was such a good musician that it was a pleasure to work with him. I admired his calling and respected his devotion to our Lord. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time, for I know he will be missed by all those who knew him.
I have many kind memories of Fr. Dominic from my High School days at St. Ben's (class of '66). We would sometimes cut-up in his music classes and he would admonish us. A few days ago after seeing his obituary in the Times-Picayune, I was listening to a classical CD. It started with Gregorian chant, and it sent my thoughts back to St. Ben. A few songs later, Old Man River came on sung by a rich classical baritone. I instantly made the connection to Fr. Dominic! It was as if he were telling me, "Mazoue', I've got my eye on you! Don't be cutting up!" God bless you Fr. Dominic. You're singing for a better Opera House than the Metropolitan Opera now.
We are certain that Father Dominic is singing with the angels.
He sparked an interest in archeology in our son, Michael,which continues to this day-many years later.
My brother--also "Dick" -- became a friend of Dick Braud while at Loyola. The young friend with the beautiful voice (we heard he had been offered a contract with the Met when he entered the monastery instead) sang at my brother's wedding, Dec. 27, 1950. My brother died of leukemia almost two years ago. Fr. Dominic always remembered all of us "like family,"and we felt privileged to have that special connection. He was so deep, and so sensitive; I only regret not having been able to spend more time with him. I look forward to endless reunions hereafter. I pray for deep peace for him, the reward of his so long and so faithful service.
I remember Fr. Dominic as a wonderful priest, whom I shall always remember in my prayers. May his soul rest in peace.
So sorry to hear of the passing of Father Dominic. My family and I enjoyed his masses at the St. Paul chapel and I enjoyed his singing at the masses at the Abbey. He was truly one of a kind.
Dominic's "Nature's Praise" gave voice to the beauty of St. Tammany and Louisiana which included the person, life and voice of Dominic himself. Our "Class of '56" was privileged to have him as a member and enjoy many post-Easter reunions. He now feasts with "the Resurrected One". Prayers for his relatives and a remembrance at my Mass at noon at our Cathedral today. Fr.Howard Hall
