Sister Rochelle : Liz and I are sorry for your loss – Sister Rochelle you taught several of my children at St. Alphonsus Elementary School in Ocean Springs several years ago. I heard of your loss through Sister Mary Ann we are so sorry. I am associated with the Serra Club of Biloxi which fosters, promotes and affirms priestly and religious vocations . The inspiration of the Perrier’s family inspired me to write in our newsletter a tribute to your family www.serraus.org upper right menu Sharing Serra Newslettters cursor down to Serra Biloxi, for December 2009 . Permission was granted by Mr Peter Finely of the Diocesan paper to use excerpts from his article. Your family and Father Thomas were such an inspiration for new vocations I wanted to share it with the clergy and religious of our Biloxi Diocese. We have two seminarians who attend St Joseph Seminary . God bless. The Eckerts
Dear Sr Rochelle, My deepest sympathy to you and your sister. Losing parents are painful enough, but I can't imagine the loss of a sibling so young. I didn't know Fr Thomas, but from all the wonderful comments, he must have been a treasure! My thoughts and prayers are with you both. Donna Kennedy Spatz-AHA'64
To Chris and Rochelle, may the peace of Christ bring you comfort in your time of sorrow. Thomas was truly a carrier of joy to those who knew him. Surely he wishes the same for you as he begins his eternal journey in the presence of Everlasting Love.
Father Thomas was a living witness to the Gospel. His caring manner, his zest for life, his wonderful sense of humor, and his deep spirituality touched all who met him and came to know him. He was immensely human; yet carried the spark of divine love for others.
We will deeply grateful that our paths crossed with his. We will miss him in this life, but are comforted by his presence with the saints on this All Saints Day.
Dear Rocky and Chris, I met Gene many years ago and knew then he was touched by God. Many blessings on you both. Jo Ellen
Fr. Thomas was my favorite retreat director when I was a member of the Altar Society of Our Lady of the Lake church in Mandeville. We usually requested him making our Day of Reflection each year.
My husband and I moved to Cal. two years ago. I miss the Abbey and Fr. Thomas. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He was a joy to know.
MY DEAR CHRIS AND ROCHELLE, I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS OF YOUR BROTHER THOMAS.. HE WAS SUCH A SWEET MAN.. HE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL THAT KNEW HIM..I AM SORRY THAT I COULD NOT MAKE IT TO THE SERVICES.. MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALWAYS..I KNOW "MO" WAS THERE TO WELCOME HIM HOME..AS SHE WILL BE FOR ALL OF US...I MISS HER..SHE WAS A GREAT FRIEND..ALL MY LOVE AND PRAYERS, JOY BARRON...
To say we loved him dearly is an understatement. My husband and I always looked forward to our annual couples retreat with Fr. Thomas.
He was so "one of us" as a New Orleans native. His laughter and demeanor always made US laugh too. Don just had a men's retreat in September. Who knew his retreat with Fr.Thomas would be his with him?
Can't imagine the loss and emptiness without Fr. Thomas when I cross the threshold to the Christian Life Center in two weeks. AJ will be a sad reminder of Fr. Thomas' very kind heart to all God's creatures. I'm sure AJ will miss him too.
Fr.Thomas, Don and I will miss you so much. Don't know whether to be angry, sad or envious. You earned your halo, Padre, as one of God's tireless, giving servants. Job well done, Fr. Thomas. I can only imagine your first words upon entering heaven, with joyous humor,"My Gawd, how great Thou art!"
In conclusion, please pray for us. Can't thank you enough for all your help in furthering our spiritual growth. Wish we could have made the services. Our hearts were there with you if not bodily. There is an heaviness in our hearts for our loss because we'll miss you dearly.
Love, Terry and Don Nolan
My deepest sympathy to all who loved Fr. Thomas. "Our joyful monk" now rests eternally in Our Father's loving care. Free to laugh and watch over us all. God Bless. Peggy Guillory, Oblate of St. Joseph Abbey, St. Benedict, Louisiana
