Floyd J. Dupre's Obituary
Floyd J. Dupre, 84, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at home surrounded by loving family and friends.
He was the loving husband of 59 years of Joyce Mary Cortez Dupre; beloved father of Ronnie J. Dupre and wife Debbie and Brenda D. Cortez and husband Larry; grandfather of Elaine Robinson and her husband Keith, Michelle Boudreaux and her husband Blake, Brian Mayeur and his wife Michelle and Clifford Dupre and his wife Nicole; and he was survived by ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Inola Dupre and brother, Austin Dupre, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin Dupre, Sr. and Pauline Vasseur Dupre; and two brothers, Clydiss and Turlin Dupre.
Floyd was a veteran of WWII having served as a member of the Army’s 2nd Ranger Battalion, Company C. He participated in the Normandy Invasion, climbing the cliffs at Pointe du Hoc, France on D-Day, June 6, 1944. He was also a member of VFW Post 3804 and American Legion Post 401 and a 4th Degree Knight, Knights of Columbus Council N6872. He was a volunteer at the National D-Day Museum for a number of years.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 3:30 PM from the Chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433.
Visitation at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home will begin at 1:30 PM on Friday.
Relatives and friends are also invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 1:00 PM at St. Landry Catholic Church, 1020 North Main St., Opelousas, LA. Visitation at St. Landry Catholic Church will begin on Saturday at 12:00 Noon.
Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA.
