Floyd R. Burckel Jr.'s Obituary
Floyd R. Burckel, Jr. passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2025 at the age of 73. He was a lifelong resident of Covington, LA and was a member of St Peter Catholic Church. Floyd retired as the Publisher and Editor of the St Tammany News Banner.
In heaven, he reunites with his parents, Floyd R. Burckel, Sr. and Vera Ducatel Burckel of New Orleans and his sister, Katherine Mehaffey. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Quave Burckel, his children, Merica, Christian, Jonathan(Britteny) and Katie. Grandfather of Veda and Eva Saladino, and Nolarain and Ballad Burckel. Brother of Janet Craddock (Glenn), David Burckel (Judy), Peggy Nicosia (Steve), Julie Burckel and his brother-in-law Lloyd Mehaffey and also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass offered by Fr. Erik Burckel, LC, nephew of Floyd on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 11:00 am from E J Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, LA and the visitation will begin at 9:00 am until service time. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington, LA.
