Eric DeWayne Babcock's Obituary
Folsom, LA - The world lost an extraordinary man on Thursday.
Eric DeWayne Babcock, age 66, a longtime Folsom resident, passed away unexpectedly at St. Tammany Parish Hospital on July 22, 2021. He was married for 32 years to his best friend and loving wife, Cindy (Cynthia Cunningham) Babcock.
Born in New Orleans, LA on July 29,1954, he was the son of the late Myrtle Ann (Babin) Babcock and Bert DeWayne Babcock, Jr., and grandson of the late Emma (Bohn) Babin and Julius Babin, and Trella (Clements) Babcock and Bert Babcock, Sr.
After graduating from East Jefferson High School, Eric went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from LSU. Eric's first job was chemical sales, then pharmaceutical sales, and on to hospital surgical equipment sales. Eric was also GIA certified and provided diamond engagement rings to many happy couples. Eric was currently working at Minerva Surgical, and is known and respected by many doctors and colleagues across the United States.
Family meant everything to Eric. He was devoted to Cindy and so proud of his sons and their successes. He loved to spend time on their farm with family and friends, cook his famous Eggs Benedict on Saturday mornings, fish in his pond, and travel with his family. His recliner at home was his happy place. He enjoyed watching horse racing and raised a few of his own thoroughbreds on their property. He loved playing the guitar with his sons and quail hunting with his family. He was a man of great love, character, and honor; and he was known for sharing kind words and good deeds with everyone he knew.
In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves behind his three amazing sons, Blake (Jessica), Kyle, and Tyler Babcock; two brothers, Clayton (Suzette) and Drew Babcock, and sister, Stacy St. Romain (Louis); brother-in-law Douglas Cunningham (Phebe) and sisters-in-law Donna Donnelly (Larry) and Keri Cunningham; his two grandchildren, Mackenzie and Joel Babcock; along with several nieces and nephews, Alexi Martin (Chase), Parker Babcock, Corey St. Romain, Cassidy St. Romain, Brittany Donnelly and Ryley Donnelly; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lynne and Donald Cunningham, who adored him; and many treasured relatives and dear friends.
Due to the Covid outbreak and in order for Eric’s loved ones to reach full immunity of the Covid vaccine, a Celebration of Eric’s Life will be held at his family farm on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. If necessary, family and friends should call (504) 722-9810 for directions.
