Elizabeth Hendricks Crosby's Obituary
Elizabeth Hendricks Crosby passed away peacefully in Covington, LA on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at the age of 96.
Born on August 17, 1922, to Carl Spence Hendricks and Elizabeth Hefley Hendricks, Elizabeth grew up in Lebanon, Virginia, and attended Hollins College in Roanoke, Virginia. Upon graduating, she married Robert Howell Crosby on June 4, 1944. After the War they settled in DeRidder, Louisiana where they raised four children and then relocated to Mandeville, Louisiana in 1978.
Throughout their 64-year marriage, Bob and Liz, as they were known, dedicated their lives to each other, their family, and their faith communities in both DeRidder and Mandeville. They enjoyed traveling together, playing golf with friends and spending time with their nine grandchildren.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband and parents. Surviving are her four children Betty Bergin, Lillian Maurin (James), Carla McClelland (John), and Robert Crosby III (Kim); nine grandchildren Carla Corley, Caroline Gallinaro, Spence McClelland, Marli Quesinberry, Elizabeth Boone, Sarah DeHay, Robert Crosby IV, Carter Crosby, and Michele Crosby, their spouses and 18 great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to attend services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana 70433 on Saturday, October 27, 2018. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with services immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Elizabeth Crosby to be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, www.alz.org, or Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, www.lhcgroup.com.
