Dear Robert, Lillian, Betty and Carla,
There are just too many memories to share! Your family was our family while growing
up in DeRidder. Mom and Dad treasured every moment they spent with your mom and dad...traveling, dinner parties and just hanging out together. The trips together are one
of the few memories that Mom continues to talk about. Remember, Betty, our calls to
them about 10 pm the night that Opal was coming through. They had just returned from
dinner and had no thought of leaving! "The condo building was not going anywhere". No
thought about their cars below in the parking garage or the damage to be done to the area. I think they ended up driving through torrential rain and very heavy traffic, but at
least they left the area.
Sindy has a memory of a trip to NYC when Mom and Liz raced out of an elevator in
the St. Regis Hotel to try and catch a glimpse of Lauren Bacall in the lobby. Not sure
what they did when they got to the lobby...ha
Our thoughts are with all of you and all of the grandchildren and great grandchildren. What a wonderful tribute to a truly special lady!
