Dustin Dwight Thompson's Obituary
Sergent First Class (SFC) Dustin Dwight Thompson passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023. Dustin was born on June 19, 1976, in Moore, Oklahoma to Raymond Lee Thompson and Janice Elaine Streeter Thompson.
He is survived by his children, Gabriel (9), Lily (9) and Betty (9) and his brother, Joseph Ray Thompson along with aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and wonderful lifelong friends.
Dustin graduated from Southmoore High School and earned credit from the University of Oklahoma with an interest in Anthropology. Dustin was a resident of Ponchatoula, LA.
Sergeant First Class (SFC) Dustin Thompson served over 23 years in the U.S. Army National Guard where he completed two overseas deployments. His career started with the Oklahoma National Guard as a Cannon Crew member/Gunner and then transferred to the Arkansas National Guard in the position of the Assistant Aviation Operations Sergeant. Culminating his career with the Louisiana National Guard as the Readiness NCO for the HHC 204th Theater Airfield Operations Group (TAOG) in Hammond, LA. His military journey earned him such awards as the Meritorious Service Medal (2x), Army Commendation Medal (3x), Army Achievement Medal (3x), Army Good Conduct Medal (5x), Iraq Campaign Medal, Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal w/Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Arkansas National Guard Federal Service Ribbon, Louisiana National Guard Emergency Service Ribbon and numerous more awards and decorations.

Thompson “There’s a lot of things wrong with this country, but one of the few things still right with it, is that a man can steer clear of the organized bull… if he really wants to. It’s a god…. luxury, and if I were you, I’d take advantage of it while you can.”
He will be forever missed by all those who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM with visitation on Thursday beginning at 9:00 AM until service time.
