DFC Hilery Alexander Mayo, Jr.'s Obituary
DFC Hilery Alexander “Big Hill” Mayo, Jr. died in the line of duty on Saturday, June 9, 2007.
Beloved husband of Tiffany Thorne Mayo; son of Glinda Davis Mayo and the late Hilery A. Mayo, Sr.; brother of Jennifer Mayo Mooney and her husband Michael and Jeffery Mayo and his wife Amanda; and half brother to Tiffany Shaw. He is also survived by his father-in-law, James Thorne; mother-in-law, Cheryl Chenoweth Thorne; brother-in-laws, Brian Thorne and his wife Nicole, Dustin Thorne and Roger Medley; niece and Godchild, Catherine; nephews, Michael, Peyton, Nathan and Braden.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Walter Herman Davis and Vera McCaughan Davis.
Age 32 years, a native of Mobile, AL, he had been a lifelong resident of Covington, LA. He was a Deputy First Class with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Department, where he had 10 years of service, was the Training Officer and a K-9 Officer. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the St. Tammany Parish Deputy’s Association.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to a Celebration of Hilery’s Life on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Church of the King, 22205 Little Creek Road, Mandeville, LA 70471.
Visitation will be AT THE CHURCH on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and again on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 from 11:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow services in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to E.J. Fielding Funeral Home of Covington.
