I met Dwayne in the fourth grade and we have been friends ever since. Mrs. Pat and Mr. Dewey were like second parents, growing up near Abita Springs. Mr. Dewey gave me my first job over the summer at North Lake Glassworks. I will always remember the lessons he taught me about hard work and how to treat people and how to treat customers with respect. I also learned that if you mess up, fess up. That has served me well over the years.
Most of all, I will miss his stories and jokes. He had so many. I was just telling Dwayne how once I introduced him to the girl I was dating, and he piped in “ Oh, that’s not the same girl you brought here yesterday”
He loved to kid around with us and I am laughing today as I think of him.
I was lucky enough to visit Mrs. Pat and Mr. Dewey this past Summer. It was a great opportunity for me to thank them for what they have given to me. Funny thing too, Mr. Dewey even remembered the amount of my first paycheck...
Mr. Dewey, You are loved and will be missed.
