t feel blessed and honor to have been able to know Mr. Dan for a very short time in his last months here on earth. The one thing besides his sense of DRY humor and " his never give up attitude" was the unconditional LOVE ANDD RESPECT he had for his children, Danny, Kerry, Danny, and Wade, and their wives and he always expressed profound love and respect for his grandchildren. I was in a position with him where we both experienced heart wrenching experience when family semi neglected older family men=mbers in a Home. This was never the experience of Mr. Dan, his beloved family was always there checking, offering to help, from helping brush his teeth to physically helping him go to the bathroom. There was never a call for assistant from the staff, they , the family wanted to do it, to help him to encourage him, to go thru great expense to allow him to go to one of his favorite restaurants, one last time. The pride in his face when his grandchildren would come to see him and the pleasure in introducing them each to me and then after they would leave talk to me on how proud he was of them, playing sports, going to college, he and I would talk until he got so tired he would go to sleep. The great honor his family bestowed om me by allowing me the opportunity to go to that meal and include me and allowing me to listen to his stories, from hunting, dice games and the great joke about a nice girl from St Bernard parish. He was sick and he never gave up.
My life left is getting shorter now, but every single day, I think of Mr. Dan and his dont give up attitude and I go forward. Though we dont see each other anymore, Mr. Dan left me a wonderful gift. HIS FAMILY
