22 years ago I was attending Louisiana Technical College in Bogalusa studying computer networking. I happen to sit down next to Mr. Curtis Reed. After a few weeks of school Mr. Curtis invited me to a concert at his church. He told me that his church just moved from downtown Covington to their new church home on Hwy 1085 and Hwy 21. The concert was a Hand Bell concert at FBC Covington, not sure Mr. Curtis knew that when he invited me. My family has now been a part of First Baptist Church Covington, LA for 21 years because Dr. Curtis Reed used the opportunity to invite me to his church. Remember God will place people in our path for reasons that we currently cannot see. God had a plan for Dr Curtis and I to become friends for all those years, and for Alisha and I to raise our family at FBC Covington. RIP Dr. Curtis Reed Jr.

Mr Reed took over as teacher sponsor of Honor Guard for my senior year 1971-1972 when no one else would. Despite having no background in what we did, he said he could not sit by and allow a group of students whom had practiced all summer on our own not to be able to continue since we didn’t have a sponsor. He was a kind, helpful man. He attended my wedding in ‘76. He will always be a special person to me!
Curtis was a great person whom I had many dealings with at the Corps. He was the IT tech person who I could always contact for issues with our office’s printers. A very professional and polite worker and “person”. May he rest in peace and prayers for his family.
He was my shop teacher at covington high he was a great mentor
I worked with Curtis at the Corps of Engineers for many years. He was such a kind, thoughtful, dedicated man. It was a true pleasure knowing him and he will be missed.
