Charles "Charlie" Otterstatter's Obituary
Charles “Charlie” D. Otterstatter, age 74, of Mandeville, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024. He was born on July 29, 1949, in Kermit, Texas.
Survivors include his loving wife of 28 years, Lisa Otterstatter, his mother, Alice Y. Otterstatter, his five siblings, including his sister, Kathy Otterstatter Henson, brothers, Billy Otterstatter, Jon Otterstatter, Steve Otterstatter, Robert Otterstatter. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Jesse William Otterstatter, his Father-in-law, Bill Coleman, his Mother-in-law, Shirley Coleman, his brother-in-law, Otis Henson and one infant sister, Jessica Otterstatter. Charlie was also a proud decedent of Eli Whitney, inventor of the cotton gin.
From 1967 until 1970, Charlie proudly served in the United States Army. During his military service, Charlie was stationed and bravely served in Germany and Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Charlie was a successful medical Sales Executive with Siemens and GE Healthcare.
In his free time, Charlie enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing and was an avid bass and freshwater fisherman, a hobby he passionately enjoyed with his Father, nephews, and friends. In fact, Charlie held the Louisiana state record for the largest freshwater Sac-Au-Lait caught by an amateur.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services with military honors on July 18, 2024, at 2:00 PM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home (2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana) with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jon Otterstatter, Garrett LaBorde, William LaBorde, Greg Scallon, Sean Casey and Kirk Clement. Honorary Pallbearers will be siblings, Billy Otterstatter, Kathy O. Henson, Steve Otterstatter, and Robert Otterstatter. Reverend Zachary D. Ritchie will conduct the funeral service. Readers will be Garrett LaBorde and William LaBorde.
