Carolyn Sue Griffin Dowdy's Obituary
Carolyn Sue Griffin Dowdy passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the age of 81. Beloved wife of the late Harold Dean Dowdy. Loving mother of Teri Evans (Emile, Jr.), Donna Harney (Chris) and Robert Dowdy (Jeanne). Daughter of the late Lola Irene Murphy Griffin and Gordon Oscar Griffin. Sister of the late Dr. Oscar Ray Griffin and Charles Griffin. Grandmother of Alyssa Evans, Jordan Evans, Morgan Harney, Madison Harney, Emma Dowdy, Alyse Dowdy, Sydney Mann and Aubrey Mann.
Carolyn was a very special, kind hearted and loving person who touched many lives throughout the years. She put her family “first and foremost” and always was there for her children and grandchildren. She was a strong woman and a true “mama” when it came to her “chicks”. She enjoyed going on casino trips, playing bingo and poker keno, eat at the “buffets” and go to the movies with her friends. Her favorite pastime was reading. She was the life of the party and always talked about how much fun she had at the luncheons and parties with her Slidell lady friends. She was a member of the Slidell Senior Citizens Club, Slidell Moose Lodge 1564, and Happy Hour Club of Slidell. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science from McNeese College and earned her RN degree from Charity School of Nursing. She worked in the St. Bernard Parish School system as a school nurse for many years. Everyone knew her as “Nurse Dowdy”. She retired after Hurricane Katrina and moved to the Northshore with her daughter, Teri, and her family.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends!! She now is in heaven with her husband who she missed dearly.
