Antonetta "Lena" Goegan Salvaggio's Obituary
Antonetta “Lena” Goegan Salvaggio passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 in Covington, LA. She was born on October 25, 1928 in Chicago, IL to the late Giuseppe “Joe” Goegan and Imelda Simione Goegan.
Lena was married to her beloved husband, the late Anthony “Tony” Salvaggio. She was the loving mother of Linda LaNasa Weir, and husband, the late Joe Weir, Susan LaNasa Jeanfreau and husband, Charles Jeanfreau, Jr., and Toni Salvaggio Trosclair and husband, Joey Trosclair. Lena was the proud grandmother of Todd Weir and wife, Jaclyn Weir, Tyler Weir, Matthew Reisch and wife, Bethany Reisch, Austin Williams, Bailey Williams, Trey Jeanfreau, and Sydney Jeanfreau; great-grandmother of Kristin, Katie, Seth, Chloe, Riley, Blaze, Remi, and her newest little angel, Maggie Jo, born just two weeks ago. Lena was the sister of the late Udino Goegan and wife, the late, Rose Goegan. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lena was an extremely talented and creative seamstress and expert crafter. She did it, not only for her own enjoyment, but made a living for her family sewing bridal gowns and clothing. Many people will remember the fabulous Halloween and Mardi Gras costumes she created. She had the opportunity to design the costume for Nicholas Cage when he was King of Bacchus. Her favorites were the wedding gowns for her daughters and the christening gowns for her grandbabies.
Lena was proud of her Italian heritage. She fed her family the Italian recipes handed down for generations. Every Christmas her enormous assortment of Italian cookies were requested and enjoyed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 6:00 PM with visitation from 4:00 PM until service time.
