We laid Joyce to rest yesterday with a beautiful service in her childhood church. We tried to honor her love of music with beautiful songs and hymns. I think she would have been pleased. One of my fondest memories iis attending Sunday Mass with her in that church. The ushers always found us a seat, no matter what time we arrived. It must have been obvious to them that she was someone special. And, oh, she would sing! She never picked up the hymnal but always sang her heart out. Sometimes guessing the words, sometimes making up her own and sometimes singing a song she’d never heard before—word for word. Rest now, dear Joyce, and keep singing.
Joyce and George Levin were dear friends of mine and my husband. We spent many summers boating, artifacting and wonderful meals on Lake Oahe. I treasure those times often. I loved that Joyce had a birthday month each year! A true Southern lady.
Sam and Joyce were great friends. We shared a love of politics and went to meetings, state conventions, and a national convention together. Joyce was always happy and shared her happiness with others. I have missed her since she moved back to her beloved Covington. Good Bless you, Joyce!
Joyce and George, and Joyce and Sam were dear friends of our family in South Dakota and spent many Christmas's and Thanksgiving with us. Joyce's fabulous and always beautiful hors d'oeavres were anxiously awaited by all, especially our grandchildren. Seb and I, and often family, were graciously hosted by George and Joyce on Lake Oahe for many fun-filled 4th of July's and other occasions. The memory book us full. God bless all.
