Allen James Orcutt's Obituary
Allen “Al” James Orcutt passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023 at the age of 77. He was born on January 16, 1946 in Tulsa, OK to the late Homer Augustus Orcutt, Jr. and Mary Margaret Watts Orcutt.
While attending Southeastern Louisiana College, Al met his beloved wife of 54 years, Jean Ann McLeod Orcutt. He was the loving father of Amy Orcutt Fielding (the late Reggie). Al was also the proud grandfather of Margaret “Macee” Cecelia and Elinor “Elie” James Fielding and honorary grandfather to Molly Molloy Catlett and Beau Gambel. He was the brother and uncle of Claudia Lambert (Abby), Charles Orcutt (Steven and Amanda), and Mary Robillard (Emily and Katherine). Also grieving his loss is Benny, his faithful companion.
During their 54 years of marriage, Al and Jean traveled to Mexico and various places in Europe. They often hosted friends and family at their beautiful home that Al built himself, and he never disappointed with his culinary skills.
As the Owner of Cimarron Builders, he worked in the construction industry for decades in the New Orleans area with Robert Catchings and a beloved cast of characters. He was a wise, humble man with endless talents.
Known for his quiet nature and quick wit, Al was great at landing a joke that you never saw coming. Friends and neighbors loved Al because of his willingness to always lend a helping hand with projects and expertise. He gave generously of his time with those who needed it most. He will forever be honored and remembered throughout the homes and hearts of his family and friends. Beautiful woodwork, custom furniture, and eye-catching stained glass adorns many a home.
If you were lucky enough to know Al, you would know he was a member of the Creek Indian Nation and enjoyed learning and educating others. His passion for his American Indian ancestry is evident in his artwork.
Mañana, mañana our dear Poppy. You are forever with us.
