I enjoyed playing tennis with Sunny many times. She was always dressed for tennis to perfection but mostly had a great attitude while playing. Positive and always happy to be out playing. Her faith was very strong which I know led her to led a full and happy life.

Hi, my name is Charlie and I am Sunny’s nephew. My fondness memory of Sunny happened during my teen years when I played tennis for my high school team. Of course my Aunt having a tennis court at home meant we played whenever I would visit with my mom Lorraine. This would happen frequently during summer time.Sunny being herself meant
that the matches were intense. Aunt
Sunny would often admonished me if I didn’t try to serve hard and fast. I felt
this was an unfair advantage, but Sunny insisted saying she needed to improve
her returns. Anyway the truth be told
Sunny would win the majority of our
matches, which was devastating to my
young ego. However, when I learned
from a neighbor in Metairie whom played
on the country club circuit that my Aunt
was very respected and highly ranked in
the state. The defeats were less stinging, a sort of Bobby Riggs scenario
in reverse with Sunny being almost 30
years older than myself. That was
nostalgic tennis footnote for those of
you old enough to remember. This is
why I admired my Aunt so much she
gave 1000% of all her heart and soul to any endeavor until she was the best she could be. God bless Yvonne Sunny Gaude, she will be missed by all. Rest in peace.
