Yolande "Lonnie" Durr Hutson's Obituary
Yolande “Lonnie” Durr Hutson, aged 83, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 8, 2022 surrounded by her family at home in Mandeville, LA.
Lonnie was a lifelong resident of Louisiana. She was born in New Orleans and raised in Metairie by her loving parents, the late Emmett Earl Durr, Sr. and Jewell Miller Durr, and was the sister of the late Emmett Earl Durr, Jr. Lonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Eugene “Gene” Hutson to whom she was married for 57 years.
Lonnie was a graduate of East Jefferson High School, attended Louisiana Tech University, and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Cytotechnology from St. Mary’s Dominican College in New Orleans. She worked as a cytotechnologist for doctors and hospitals throughout the greater New Orleans area and taught cytotechnology at Charity Hospital in New Orleans.
Lonnie was a passionate horse lover who enjoyed spending time with her family, caring for her pets and plants, traveling with family and friends, crocheting hats for those in need through Hearts & Hands ministry, reading with the Overreaders Book Club, and participating in church services, bible study classes and Senior Saints activities.
She leaves behind her three daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Jay Pence, Laura and Dr. J. Troy Littleton, and Jennifer and Charley Craddock; her grandchildren Dr. Leslie Pence-Samardzija (Michael), Tyler Pence (Jamie), Kevin Pence (Dr. Kayla), Ryan Littleton, Austin Janes and Brandon Janes; her great grandchildren Oliver Pence, Layla Pence and Christopher Pence; and her extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service at Mandeville’s First Baptist Church, 1895 US-190, Mandeville, LA 70448 on Saturday, October 1, 2022 beginning at 10:00am for visitation followed by a service at 10:30am.
