William "Bill" Loyd Wood's Obituary
William “Bill” Loyd Wood, at the age of 85, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026. He was born on November 30, 1940, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Charlie James Wood and Lurline Cutright.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sharon Pauline Bodie Wood; children, Heather Nicole Wood Watters (John Romano) and William Bernard Wood (Amy Nicole Strohmer); grandchildren, Steele Watters, William Douglas Wood, Claire Josephine Wood, and Grace Romano; sister-in-law, Julie Malvina Bodie Longino and family; brother, Leo Terrell Wood; sister-in-law, Mary Ann and family; and many wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; and brother-in-law, John Whatley Bodie.
Bill graduated from Jal High School in Jal, New Mexico, after which he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for many years. Following his discharge from the Navy, he enrolled at Northwestern College in Natchitoches, Louisiana, later graduating with degrees in Mathematics and Electronics. He then moved to New Orleans and worked in the space industry while taking graduate courses at the University of New Orleans. After graduating from UNO with a master’s degree in mathematics and computer science, he began working for J. Ray McDermott in the United States and many other countries. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, traveling, renovating and building.

Services and interment will take place privately.
