Brother William Alfred Seibold, FSC
Brother William died peacefully in his sleep on July 4th at 8:30 PM in the 91st year of his life.
Brother William was born on April 15, 1930, in Groves, Texas, the son of the late William John and Julia Cordelia (Sharum) Seibold. He is preceded in death by his sisters Mary Frances Riley, Sister Bernice Seibold, OSB, and brother, Patrick Seibold. Brother’s surviving aunt Sister Louise Sharum, OSB, nieces and nephews are Nora Christina Touchette (his Godchild), Janie Riley Lee (Robert), James Riley (Cathy), David Riley (Donna), Patrick Riley (Lesa), and many great-nieces and nephews. Brother William entered the Novitiate in August, 1949, and received the habit on December 7, 1949, at De La Salle Christian Brothers in Lafayette LA. He made his first vows on December 8, 1950, and entered the Scholasticate (College) in December 1950, in Las Vegas, NM. He made his final vows on June 6, 1956, in Santa Fe, NM. Brother William received his B.A. degree from St. Michael’s College (College of Santa Fe) in 1952. Brother started teaching career at Catholic High School in New Iberia, LA. His teaching career was centered in elementary and middle education in various schools of the then NOSF (New Orleans Santa Fe) district. He ministered for 48 years at St. Michael’s High, Santa Fe; Mater Dolorosa, New Orleans; Landry Memorial, Lake Charles, LA; but most of his apostolate was as assistant curator of the San Miguel Mission in Santa Fe, NM.
The services for Brother William will be private and he will be inurned in the St. John Baptist De La Salle columbarium at St. Joseph’s Abbey in Covington LA.
The retired Brother’s Community would like to thank and the Nurses, CNA’s other staff members, in taking care of Brother William and the cooks who prepared special meals for him.
