Dr. William Henry Reinbold Jr.'s Obituary
Dr. William Henry Reinbold, Jr. passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023. He was born on April 23, 1951, in Houston, Texas to the late William Henry Reinbold, Sr. and Charlotte Harwood Reinbold.
Bill was the beloved husband and best friend of Miriam Reinbold for over 31 years. He was the loving step-father of John Lambou and his wife, Susan. Bill was the proud grandfather of Gabe, Jack, and Everley Lambou. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Kathleen, (Jay), his niece Kelly, (Andy) and his grandnephew Arthur.
Bill received his B.S. from Tulane University in New Orleans, La, and a Medical Doctorate from the Tulane School of Medicine. He attended the University of California Irvine where he completed his general Psychiatry and Child Psychiatric Fellowship.
He served as a Clinical Associate at the Southern California Psychoanalytic Institute.
Bill was Certified in General, Forensic, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
He returned to the Greater New Orleans area in the mid 1990’s to develop the Psychiatry Program for the Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff’s Office serving as Forensic Mental Health Director, as faculty with the LSU department of Psychiatry. He continued serving the criminal justice system as the Psychiatrist for Angola State Penitentiary.
Prior to his retirement, he was the Outpatient Mental Health Psychiatrist for the Veterans New Orleans Affairs, department of Psychiatry.
In his retirement, Bill enjoyed spending time with family, playing piano, singing and listening to most genres of music, reading the latest books, and painting. He created many paintings under the care of Gretchen Armbruster at her studio in downtown Covington. He enjoyed painting portraits of his grandchildren, his multiple dogs, and the view of the swamp out of his home. He truly enjoyed gardening and landscaping, seeing plants that he planted, grow into something beautiful.
Bill was a kind and compassionate man with a heart for serving people. He had a smile that would fill your heart and blue eyes that were always focused on you during a conversation. His cards were always so touching and thoughtful and life-giving. Bill loved Jesus, he loved his family, and it brought him great joy to watch the grandkids grow.
Interment services will be private at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, St. Benedict, LA.
