William Virgil Holmes' Obituary
William Virgil Holmes passed away on September 13, 2010. He was born the forth of five children to the late Warren S. and Emma Williams Holmes on June 12, 1931 in Duck Hill, MS.
The beloved husband of Henrietta (Betty) Brewster Holmes for 56 years, he is preceded in death by his only child, John William Holmes. He is the brother Gondyne H. Sheley (late Walt Sheley), Bobbie H. Styron (Lester Styron), the late Warren S. Homles, Jr. and the late Don B. Holmes (late Frances Holmes).
Mr. Holmes moved to Clinton, LA from Mississippi at age 14. As a graduate of Clinton High School and Louisiana State University, he worked as a geophysicist with Texaco, Inc. for 42 years. For 27 of those years he lived in London, England working with Texaco International. After retirement in 1995, he moved back to the states with his wife to Tchefuncte Club Estates. He was an avid golfer and Bridge player and thoroughly enjoyed his time with the Tchefuncte ROB’s.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433.
Visiting hours will begin Thursday at 9:00 AM.
Interment at Theodore Dendinger Cemetery in Madisonville will immediately follow mass.
