William Rothmund Culver's Obituary
William Rothmund Culver passed away Sunday, February 18, 2011. He was born on July 6, 1928 in Kentucky, and lived in Connecticut, Oklahoma, Florida, and Louisiana. He resided in Covington, LA from 1972 until 2011.
He was married twice, to Stella Little, and later to Mary M. Culver. He is survived by both his first and second wives. He had three daughters, Cheryl (Mrs. Robert) Buck, Kathleen (Mrs. Fred) Jones and Larla (Mrs. Bobbie) Ziegler, and two step-children, Marina (Mrs. Roger) Gladstone and Dr. Sergei Lobanov-Rostovsky. There are two surviving brothers, Earl and Harold Culver, and two deceased sisters, Adeline Lemoine and Elizabeth (Mrs. Gilbert) Potter. Grandchildren are: Melanie (Mrs. Dana) Myers, Russel Wayne Jones, Erica (Mrs. Joe) Miller, and Victoria Fabian. There are numerous great grandchildren and other relatives.
Mr. Culver was a veteran who served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific during WW II, where he was mainly involved in air/sea rescue. He was a ship captain, and served as the ground supervisor during the construction of Beau Chene Golf Course, and for a time as a supervisor on the North Shore for Vinson Guard Service. Among his hobbies were fishing, boating, birding, gourmet cooking and entertaining.
A private memorial service will be held in Oklahoma for family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Captain Culver to Compassus Hospice in Slidell.
