William Edwin Buckner's Obituary
William Edwin Buckner, born on March 12th, 1928 in Bessemer, AL, a lifetime resident of the Birmingham area and died April 10th , 2009 in Covington, Louisiana.
He attended Blessed Sacrament Academy, in Birmingham, AL. Served in the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII and received the Medal of Army, Navy and Air Force, Class B, Grade II. He was a charter member of the U.S. Auto Club and proud builder and owner of the Buckner Offy number four. He was co-owner of Midway Garage in Powderly, AL. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 668.
Visitation and Mass will be held Monday, April 13th at Saint Thomas Catholic Church in Montevallo, AL. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 pm with a Funeral Mass following.
Interment in Southern Heritage Cemetery, in Pelham, AL.
Survivors include his former wife, Ruth B. Buckner; daughter, Rita B. Wallace; sisters, Yolanda E. Messina and Mary J. Lee; grandchildren, Rebecca W. Pierce and Michael D. Wallace; great-grandchildren, Christopher Wallace, Brandon and Brittany Pierce, Alexis and Zachary Wallace; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
