William P. "Tony" Bell, II's Obituary
William P. “Tony” Bell, II, age 84, of Covington, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024. He was born on September 24, 1940, in Jackson, Mississippi.
He is survived by his children, Kelly Leigh Bell Mallams and her husband Tim and William Jeffery “Jeff” Bell and his wife Missy and; grandchildren, Tyler Mallams (Bayley), Tanner Mallams (Nichole), Morgan Bell Warner (Trevor), and Nathan Bell (Haley) and great-grandchildren: Hayden Mallams and Kinsley Mallams.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Jo Lawson Bell; his parents, William P. “Jack” Bell, I, and Audie Naoma Townsend Bell, and brother Robert Michael “Mickey” Bell.
William P. "Tony" Bell, loving husband, devoted father, and esteemed professional, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and integrity. His life was marked by his unwavering love for family and community.
A proud graduate of Mississippi State University, Tony earned his Bachelor of Science in Geology in 1962. His work in the oil and gas exploration industry paved the way for a distinguished career as a geophysicist, where he earned widespread respect for his contributions.
Tony served his country with honor as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 3rd U.S. Army, 29th Infantry, 197th Infantry Brigade. His time in the military as an Army Ranger instilled in him values of discipline, leadership, and humility that he carried with him throughout his life.
Outside of his professional and military achievements, Tony was an avid reader and a lover of the outdoors. Whether immersed in a book or spending time in nature, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His warmth and generosity were well-known—he was always willing to help others, often asking for little in return.
Tony's memory will live on through his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched with his quiet strength and selflessness. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his remarkable spirit and the love he shared with those around him.
Rest in peace, Tony Bell. You leave behind a world made better by your presence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 1:00 PM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow in the adjacent Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
