Wilfred Joseph Laborde's Obituary
Wilfred Joseph Laborde passed away at his residence at St. Anthony Gardens Senior Living Community surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 4, 2024. He was born in Hessmer, LA on August 5, 1930.
Beloved husband of sixty-seven years to the late, Jacqueline Micott Laborde. He is survived by his daughters, Vickie Goux (the late Rene’) and Susan Aymond; nine grandchildren, Jason Goux (Lori), Tiffany Goux, Leslie Aymond (Jason), Jenny Picone (Jimmy), Heather Aymond (Roger), Sloane Ory (Matt), Jon Goux (Kristine), Josh Aymond (Morgan), and Tyler Aymond (Hannah) and fourteen great-grandchildren, Alexis Broussard, Kalli Hatchett, Brody Hatchett, Renny Goux, Abby Picone, Anabelle Ory, Josh Picone, Adleigh Ory, Ellie Watson, Audrey Aymond, Emily Watson, Anthony Aymond, Riley Goux and Jolie Goux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eliza Gaspard Laborde and Fabian Laborde; his siblings, Mark Laborde, Della St. Romain, Ezelda Bonnette and Nolia Bordelon and numerous nieces and nephews.
Upon graduating from UL in 1951, Mr. Laborde became band director and later principal at Cottonport High School where he touched the lives of many students. He then became supervisor of schools for the Avoyelles Parish School System, retiring in 1985. He served thirteen years in the Louisiana National Guard.
His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte St., Mandeville, LA 70448 on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 12:00 noon with visitation at church on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Mandeville City Cemetery.
