Warren Albert Thomas' Obituary
Warren Albert Thomas, 77, of Covington, LA peacefully passed away on August 14th, 2023.
Warren was born on September 27, 1945, to Rosalie Lyons and Henry Frank Thomas in the St. Roch neighborhood of New Orleans. St. Roch was a wonderful neighborhood, full of kids playing ball in the streets and at “the park”. Warren attended Francis T. Nichols high school where he excelled in athletics and received a letter in varsity football. He played football at Southeastern University in Hammond until he joined the United States Air Force when Vietnam called. His service with the Air Force brought him to the flight line in Guam where he excelled at aircraft mechanics. After his return from the service he brought his aircraft service skills to the NASA Michoud assembly plant and the Stennis Space Center. He retired after “36 impeccable years”. In his free time, Warren enjoyed spending time at his camp in Slidell where he went boating on Lake Pontchartrain and visited with his neighbors on the canal. In retirement, he most enjoyed spending time at his home in Covington with his wife Mary Anne. Warren was an excellent caretaker during Mary Anne’s breast cancer battle. He lovingly tended to his plants and maintained his yard art. Warren loved to entertain friends and family; there was never a shortage of food, drinks, or stories at the Thomas residence. Warren was able to travel to Ireland (his favorite place) and also took many cruises to various countries and spent lots of time at his favorite Florida beaches including Ft. Pickens.
Warren is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Rosalie, his brother Henry (Rose), and his brother Joseph (Arlene). Warren leaves behind his wife of 30 years to love him forever, Mary Anne Herbez Thomas; his brother John E. Thomas (Kathy); two cherished grandsons Chase and Chandler; two sons Anthony and Darren; many nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church, 72040 Maple St, Abita Springs, LA 70420 on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 12:00 Noon with visitation from 10:00 AM until Mass time.
