Walter "Roy" Smith's Obituary
Walter “Roy” Smith, age 65, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Covington, Louisiana, on April 21, 1960, Roy was a lifelong resident of Bedico and a proud member of the Northshore community.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Walter LeRoy Smith and Margaret Barbazon Smith.
He is survived by his children, Zachary Smith (Stacy), Jordan Smith-Kenning (Jordan), and Dalton Smith; and by his five beloved grandchildren, Ayden, Kameron, Mason, Atticus, and Henry. He is also survived by his siblings, Edward Smith, Leanne Ladner, and Greg Smith (Jeannie); as well as his former wife of 42 years, Veronica Ciresi.
A graduate of Covington High School, Roy was a proud member of the 1976 State Champion Football Team. He dedicated his career to working as a heavy equipment operator with Trinity Marine, where he was known for his strong work ethic and steady presence.
Roy had a lifelong love of music, especially playing the guitar, and he found joy and freedom in riding motorcycles. He was also a proud member of The Field Church, where he loved attending services and sharing practical skills with younger members. Teaching handiwork and simple tasks brought him great joy, and he cherished the opportunity to guide and encourage the next generation.
Roy’s Celebration of Life will be held privately at a later date.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his deep love for his family, his faith, and the passions that brought color and spirit to his life.
