Walter John Jung, Jr.'s Obituary
Walter J. Jung, Jr. passed away Friday, July 22, 2011. A resident of the Northshore since 1983, he was born November 7, 1918 in New Orleans, LA to the late Walter John, Sr. and Jeanne Dufour Jung.
The beloved husband of Marilyn Ferber Jung he is survived by his son, Walter J. Jung III; one daughter, Susan Jung Lambert Workman; five grandchildren: Walter J. Jung IV, Danner J. Broussard, Christy J. McAlister, Will Jung, Lacey Lambert McKnight and eight great-grandchildren. Also close to his heart were his niece and nephew, Jeanne Krueger Crotty and Robert Michael Krueger. He was preceded in death by his sister, Felicie Jung Krueger.
Mr. Jung was a 1936 graduate of Culver Military Academy before going on to honorably serve his country as a decorated World War II veteran. Following five years in the Army, he graduated from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and spent many years in the Insurance Industry in New Orleans before retiring in 1990. He was known as a sports enthusiast and Saints Fan with a wonderful sense of humor. He was also, and more importantly, a faith-filled man who loved his Lord and Savior.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433.
Visiting hours will begin Tuesday at 9:30 AM.
Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington will immediately follow mass.
