Walter Hardy Clifton Jr.'s Obituary
Walter Hardy Clifton, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at his home in Abita Springs, LA. He was born on July 10, 1937 in Madisonville, LA to the late Walter Hardy Clifton, Sr. and Birdie Wates Clifton.
Walter was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-two years Olga Casadaban Clifton. He is survived by his children, Mimi Clifton and Paul Clifton. Walter was the brother of Shirley Mae Clifton Marechal, Lavonne “Bon” Thomas, and the late Casie Jean Clifton Crocket.
Walter and Olga Clifton made their home in Abita Springs since 1958 in the house they purchased on Main Street where they remained for the remainder of their lives. Walter was a self-employed contractor noted for his skills in shoring and leveling houses. He was an avid sportsman and nature loving enthusiast. He transformed his back yard into a beautiful environment for people and local wildlife. He and Olga purchased property adjacent to their home to remain in its natural state and serve as a wildlife sanctuary. Walter also became a very skillful wildlife photographer. Walter loved to share his knowledge about fishing, outdoor life and his passion for photography. People who knew Walter will miss his ready smile, sociable manner, and enthusiasm.
