My wife and I moved to Mandeville in August of 2014. Being books and movie people we met Greg in short order. It became evident early on that Greg was the most knowledgeable music person I have ever met. Amazing. Our friendship began with conversations surrounding music at Barnes and Noble but in the years since we have attended concerts together (Paul Simon, The Zombies, Joe Jackson) and Greg sat a time or two on our patio just enjoying good conversation and good company.
We will miss Greg terribly because, as impressive as his knowledge and wit were, his kindness and humility were even more impressive. Frankly, rare qualities these days.
So adios, brother. Till we meet again. We'll never forget you.

Greg and I only met in person once or twice but he was a wonderful online friend. I'll miss his insights, his humor, and his wonderful collections. Deepest condolences to the Schmidt family.
Sending my deepest condolences to Greg’s family. He has left a huge hole in our Barnes & Noble family. Rest in peace, Greg. You are dearly missed.
Greg , you will be missed.

I met Greg through Doug (we were fraternity brothers) at Mardi Gras and became fast friends. We would share puns. The more obscure, the better.
Greg was a dear friend and colleague of mine for 9.5 years. We talked about all the time about our common love for music. He always had a smile no matter what was happening. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
We will miss you every day, Greg. Your knowledge, your kindness and your incredible sense of humor. Our lives and store will never be the same without you, our "music man"- to educate us all on what truly great music was and is. Heaven gained an amazing angel. Rest in peace, my friend. Love -Tammy and all your friends at BN Mandeville
