Vivian Lee Maloney's Obituary
Vivian Lee Maloney, age 85, of Mandeville, Louisiana, died on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Heritage Manor in Mandeville. She was born April 29, 1940, in San Francisco, California, to Arthur Sheridan Smith and Irene Fisher Smith.
In 1962, Vivian graduated from the University of California, Berkley, with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Music. She was a devoted member of Phi Mu Sorority where she was very close to her sorority sisters.
After college, she worked as a buyer for the Emporium-Capwell Company in San Francisco. She piloted the Big Sister Program of Santa Clara County, was Secretary of the Santa Clara County Young Republicans, and oversaw the Republican Women Fashion Show and Fundraiser.
As an only child, she was very close to her cousins, Arthur S. Patron (“Dooty”), Ronald H. Patron, and Madeline Patron Caulking, and the rest of the large Patron family. Eventually she decided to move down to Louisiana to be near them. She worked for Tulane University Medical Center as the Director of Donor Relations. Her cousin, Dooty, introduced her to her beloved John Maloney. They were married in September of 1995 and lived in Mandeville. She went through the RCIA program and was welcomed into the Catholic Church on March 29, 1997. She was very involved in her church parish, Mary, Queen of Peace. In 2001, She and John were awarded the Archdioceses of New Orleans Order of St. Louis Medallion in recognition of Leadership and dedicated service to the Church. Vivian was also instrumental in raising funds to build the new church building which was built in 2008.
An accomplished pianist, master gardener, lover of animals, and gourmet chef, Vivian will be dearly missed by her family and community.
She is survived by her stepchildren, Kenneth John Maloney (Jennifer), Theresa Anne Olivier (Dr. Kenneth), Allison Weiss (Dale), and Abby Godee (Joost); 6 granddaughters; 4 grandsons; and too many Patron Cousins to count. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John Joseph Maloney, Jr, and her parents, Arthur and Irene Smith.
