Virgie Darcey Shubert's Obituary
Virgie Mae Darcey Shubert, 86, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family in Covington, LA. She was born on November 6, 1930 in Houma, LA to the late Curtis Joseph Darcey and Elma Ann Martin Darcey. Virgie was a native of the Bourg/Houma, LA area and a resident of Covington, LA for over 40 years.
Virgie is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Roy Joseph Shubert, Jr. She was the loving mother of Roy Joseph Shubert, III, (the late Sandra), Kathleen S. Brown (Melvin), Linda Shubert, and Diane S. Cox (David). Virgie was the proud grandmother of Angela Collins (Charles), Roy Joseph Shubert, IV (Chrystie), Davina C. Ordoyne (Elwin), Patricia C. Gill (Shean), Latoya R. Montgomery (Jonathan), Elizabeth B. Green (Daniel), and Emily Kelly (Brandon); great-grandmother of Alyssa, Darcey, Lauren, Stephen, Charley, Kennedy, Aydan, Neason, Braden, McKenna, and Kaylee; great great-grandmother of Brayson and Bowen. She was the sister of Omie D. Haney, Lewana D. Underwood, Charles Darcey and the late Rhea D. Simoneaux. Virgie is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Liturgy of the Word at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 4:00 PM with Visitation from 2:00 PM until service time. A Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 PM.
