I am saddened to learn of Vergie's death.
Although I haven't see her in years, I always remember her fondly.
My most vivid recollection of Vergie is a trip she took with with Grandma Loncz to visit our new home in Honeoye Falls on a hot summer day. Vergie was sitting on our couch with a blanket on her lap watching Ernie and I trying desparately to make them a cup of tea after dinner. We could not seem to get it hot enough for them. Vergie kept sending us back to the kitchen to make it hotter. The boiling hot cup of tea that we delivered wearing oven mitts ended up being just about the right temperature for a good cup of tea. (Vergie whispering to Grandma it's a shame we couldn't make tea) We were amazed that they were going to drink it and concerned that they would burn themselves. Vergie eased us with the comment that at their age they were "toughened up and the hotter the better because they couldn't taste or feel anything anyway".
To this day if I burn my mouth on hot tea I recall how hot they liked their tea and I chuckle to myself and wonder how they drank that tea. We refer to hot beverages as "Vergie" hot as a temperature gage.
You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
With deepest sympathy, Linda, Ernie and Claire Yioulos
