Vernie Mae Mothershead's Obituary
Vernie Mae Mothershead, age 86, of Covington, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. She was born on August 2, 1938, in Osyka, Mississippi.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda G. Willie (Joseph), Connie G. Sance (Steve), and Sandra G. Stevens; grandchildren, Bradley Willie, James Willie, Angel Rimes (Curt), David Sance, Chris Stevens (Amanda), Jessica Bolves (Andrew), Emma M. Moore (Matthew), and John Marmion (Kara); great-grandchildren, David Cole Sance, Kaelyn Sance, Ashlyn Rimes, Savannah Rimes, Abygail Stevens, Brantley Bolves, Scarlet Stevens, and Addison Kate Moore who will be born any day; great-great grandson, Evren Sance; sister, Joyce Roberts; and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, Richard Hobson Mothershead, Jr.; her parents, Ollis Joseph McLain and Margaret Clark McLain; daughters, Patricia Glass Marmion and Bonnie Glass; siblings, David McLain, Carolyn Chatellier, Ruth Windom, Bernice Freeman, Inell Warwick, and J.A. McLain; and son-in-law, Richard Stevens.
Vernie moved to Covington as a young girl where she lived the majority of her life. She was a graduate of Covington High School and a longtime faithful member of First Baptist Church of Covington. She lived a life full of travel and especially enjoyed her mission trips to Ukraine. She was proud of her family and loved each of her family members dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend an evening wake on Sunday, July 27, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana.
Relatives and friends are also invited to attend the funeral services on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow in Barker-McManus Memorial Cemetery, 79407 Lee Road, Covington, Louisiana.
