Jay and Karen,
I'm sorry to hear of the passing of Ms Vera. What a great lady she was! Although I hadn't seen her in years, she made such an wonderful impression on me so many years ago and that has never waned. I'm sure you will miss her dearly. My condolences.

We hold dear the few years we knew Vera as our neighbor and friend. She was a gifted storyteller, and we enjoyed hearing so many interesting and humorous accounts of her long history in Covington. She, likewise, listened to our life stories with the attention and finesse of the newspaper woman she was. A classy, intelligent, strong, and jovial person, she seemed to me to be ahead of her time and a true treasure to all who knew and loved her. We will miss her, her family will miss her dearly, and Covington has lost one of its finest. Jan & Key Clarke
I would often run into Mrs.Vera at the old Bogue Falaya Cemetery. We would be cleaning our family plots, in preparation for All Saints Day. We would chat about our family history and how families do not clean their ancestors' graves any longer. She was a warm, lovely lady and she loved her family dearly. With sincere sympathy, Jo Ann Thompson (granddaughter of Jim and Martha Willie Thompson)
