Uwe Jens Lorenz's Obituary
Uwe Jens Lorenz passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024. He was born in Lägerdorf, Germany, October 29, 1941.
He is survived by his wife Aurelia Cespedes Lorenz and his children, Ingrid L. Yancey (Jamie), Karin Lorenz Crosby, Amanda L. Phillips (Jimmy), Andrew J. Lorenz, Wairis Cespedes, Maria Cespedes, and his grandchildren, Erik J. Yancey, Markus P. Yancey, Ashleigh Phillips, Kaitlyn Phillips, Sofie M. Yancey, Ella Crosby and Mikaela Cespedes. He is also survived by his brother Rainer Lorenz, and many nieces and nephews and many wonderful lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Ellen (Stavnem) Lorenz, his son Erik Lorenz; and his parents Ella Winkler Lorenz and Hans Heinrich Lorenz.
Jens attended East Green Bay High School, Class of 1959. He was a National Merit Scholar and attended Tulane University where he became a member of Beta Theta Pi. He earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering then a M.S. (1970) in Engineering. Jens was a member of the LA Society of Professional Surveyors and the LA Professional Engineering Society. He was a registered Professional Engineer and Surveyor.
Mr. Lorenz was the owner and founder of River/Road Construction, River/Gulf Marine, LLC and Central Gulf, LLC.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington LA 70433 on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 2:00 PM with visitation, beginning at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Mandeville City Cemetery followed by a gathering of family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Lorenz may be made to: Friends of the Louisiana Wildlife Refuges, c/o Sue Wilder, 61389 Hwy 434, Lacombe, LA 70445.
