Thinking of the time Tonya told me about the difference between her daughter’s weddings. She got a big laugh out of it! She gave me a few things for my granddaughter’s art projects during the neighborhood yard sale one year to promote her to keep up with creating art. She was a truly genuine soul and her bright light will keep shining forward. Thoughts and grace to family and friends…

I have not had a patient with such drive, acceptance, and peace. She remained upbeat and positive throughout her entire cancer journey- even at the point of her imminent death, ensuring me that she was “good”- she was amazing!
I could not have been more touched by someone.
She made me smile WITH her despite what came her way.
I will miss her as I know many will. Rock on my girl! 💕💕💕

I worked with Tonya for about 10 years in Batavia. She was a great teammate and friend. One thing that stays with me to this day is how she always seemed to have time for everyone. People and relationships were what Tonya valued above all else. She was always there to listen, give encouragement, and make me laugh! Even the day she was moving to DC from Batavia, she invited me into her home and we chatted for hours as she got ready to move. I even remember her taking a day off school because one of her girls asked her to stay home and play (I think this was Mary Elizabeth). Tonya was full of joy and passion. She really knew how to wring every last drop out of each moment. Her art shows at school were legendary...I think every square inch was filled with student artwork and I know for a fact that it took her DAYS to mount, label and hang all of it. I think of her all the time because she painted tiles that are hanging on our school walls to this day. Tonya, I was so lucky to know you. I love you and I am sending my love to your dear family.
