Tobias "Toby" Edward Rosenthal's Obituary
Tobias “Toby” Edward Rosenthal, born August 14, 1927, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018.
Toby was a proud 4th generation native of Mandeville and was born on Girod Street. Toby was a World War II veteran who served with the Navy Seabees in the South Pacific. He was married to Dottye Davis for 55 years-the love of his life. Camping, gardening, transporting cars, LSU and music were just a few of the pleasures he enjoyed. The family camped throughout the US and Canada in the 60’s and 70’s, making memories that last a lifetime. Later, Toby and Dottye spent every October in Cades Cove, located in the Smoky Mountains. He was a nice man and would proudly tell everyone that he “helped build the causeway”. A true one of a kind!
He is survived by his daughter, Kerri Leigh Lamers and sister Naomi. Preceded by his wife Dottye, parents Aaron and Vivian Smith Rosenthal, sister Hilda, brothers AJ, Izzy, Billy and Lem.
Graveside services will be held in Mandeville Cemetery on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Toby be made to Ridgeback Rescue of the US, www.rrus.org , in honor of the four granddogs he loved so much.
