Thomas "Tommy" B. Boren's Obituary
Surrounded by members of his family, Thomas B. “Tommy” Boren passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 16, 2021 at the age of 84.
He was the beloved husband of Kay Daniel Boren of 64 years and loving father of Beth Boren Carroll (Scott), and Dr. Bill Boren (Jill). He was loving grandfather of Katy Carr, John Michael Carr, Rhett Carroll, Austin Carroll, Halle Boren, Hannah Boren, and Harper Boren.
He is survived by his sister Lena B. Berry, and brother Edwin L. Boren. He is preceded in death by his parents Amos F. Boren and Edith Cunningham Boren and his sister Doris B. Lindsey.
Tommy was born in Inverness, MS and spent most of his childhood in Greenville, MS. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1956 and then received his B.S. from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master’s degree from the University of Alabama. After moving to Meridian, MS in 1967, he settled into his new hometown and new job with the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation. He would retire in 1999 and remain in Meridian until the last two years of his life. Tommy and Kay were members of First Baptist Church, Meridian. Tommy enjoyed officiating all sports at the high school and collegiate level. He was also an avid fisherman.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service at The Chapel at First Baptist Church Covington, 16054 Murphy Road Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be held at a later date.
