Thomas R. Galvin, died peacefully at his home on Friday, June 1, 2007.
Beloved husband for 56 years of Shirley Galvin. Devoted father of Kelly Reedy. Proud grandfather of Jamie, Tommy and Michael Reedy. Eldest son of the late Thomas J. and Ruth Galvin. Brother of Jack Galvin. Step-brother of Dan O’Heren and Anne Jakob.
Aged 79 years, born March 23, 1928 in Lakewood, Ohio and a resident of Mandeville, LA for the past 30 years. He was an officer in the US Navy during the Korean War. Former Vice-President of White Trucks Corporation and subsequently Mack Truck Corporation. Former owner and president of New Orleans Mack Trucks in Kenner, LA. Retired agent for MetLife Insurance Co. Longtime resident and member of Beau Chene Golf and Racquet Club, where he enjoyed countless rounds of golf with many wonderful friends. Active member in many of the ministries and fellowships at St. Timothy United Methodist Church.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration Service at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, 335 Asbury Dr., Mandeville, LA 70448 on Sunday, June 3, 2007 at 2:00 PM. Visitation on Sunday, AT THE CHURCH from 1:00 PM until service time with a reception to follow services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of St. Tammany. E. J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433 entrusted with the arrangements.
