Sonny was like a father to me. Always kind, always interested in others, always giving, always telling a joke or story to brighten your day. I have so many wonderful memories of him to hold in my heart. What a wonderful man! He will be sorely missed, and my prayers are with Tom, Hilda, and the rest of the family.
Sonny was a dear friend, and I will miss him.
My heart felt condolences go out to Hilda and all of the Champagne family. Sonny was the man that got me into flying. He took a personal interest in getting me started on the right foot which led to an airline career. He was a man of honesty and integrity. I will surely miss him.
A great man has flown west to a better place. Sonny, taught me to fly. It was because of him and a couple of others that were in the Civil Air Patrol that I went on to a career flying for Delta Air Lines. My condolences to Hilda, Tom, and he rest of his family. May God watch over all of you.
I express my sincere condolences to the Champagne family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of passage. Sonny was one of the first adults who took an interest in me as a young adult and was a profound example of honesty and integrity that served me in later years.

My sympathies go out to the family of this fine gentleman. Sonny taught me how to fly after he and several others formed the Covington Squadron, Civil Air Patrol in 1953. His efforts gave me a big head start in a very successful Air Force career. Certain people stand out during a lifetime and certainly Sonny has been one of those people.

Sonny was always kind and loving to me. A smile, a pat on the back and a kind word are three things that I always got from Uncle Sonny. The world is a better place for having had Sonny here. May God bless you and I pray that His love may console you in this time of heartache.
