Thomas Peter Breslin's Obituary
Brigadier General Thomas Peter Breslin “Little Bear” of Covington on Monday, December 25, 2006.
He was born April 28, 1921 to the late Peter and Helen Murray Breslin in Musselborough, Scotland, lived 20 years in the Metairie/New Orleans area before moving to Covington 35 years ago.
Mr. Breslin was preceded in death by his Wife of 60 years Dolores Julia Weber Breslin and a grandson Shawn D. Breslin. He is the father of Mary B. Guillot, Thomas P., Jr. (Peggy Fitzsimmons) and David E. Breslin (Denise Elstrott); brother of Doris B. Bushek, Betty B. Jeanguenat, Helen B. Wilhelm and the late Frank Breslin; grandfather of Thomas L., J. Michael, Robert P. Guillot, Catherine Breslin Chastain, Amanda Breslin Cisneros, Julia Anne Breslin Rigdon, Thomas Peter Breslin, III, P. Hunter Breslin and Elizabeth Breslin Villa. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren: Courtney, Tara, Shawn and Calvin Roy Guillot, Brady Copeland, Jacob Cisneros, Elise Dolores and Joseph Dean Chastain and number nine, baby boy Villa soon to be announced.
He served his Country in the Pacific Theater with the U.S. Army during WW II and then attended Tulane on the GI Bill. Graduating in 1952, Mr. Breslin went on to become President of Dixie Plastics Manufacturing Co. and Commander of the Washington Artillery. After moving to the Northshore he was a longtime supporter of the St. Joseph’s Abbey, the PENNIES FOR BREAD and was a parishioner of St. Anselm’s Catholic Church in Madisonville.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Funeral Mass on Thursday, December 28, 2006 at 11:00 AM from St. Anselm’s Catholic Church, 307 St. Mary St., Madisonville, LA 70447. Wake Services will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2006 from 6-9:00 PM at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433 and Thursday at the Church at 10:00 AM with the Rosary being said at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow Mass at the St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery. A “Celebration of Life” reception will take place at Christwood after Committal Services.
