I remember one day at the school, Gretchen went out to the Dumpster to
take out some trash. At least 30 minutes later, she came in with eyes sparkling
and full of joy. She had found a four-leaf clover. She was happy for the rest of the day. She was the only person I've ever known who looked for signs from the Universe to the degree that I do. We agreed that they're always there. You have to look for them and expect them, though.
What I remember most about Gretchen is her great big smile and her deep dedication to coffee. She was the "fun" mom of one of my best friends in high school, Denny Juge. She was loved as a mom by another of my best friends from high school, her daugter-in-law Kettye Voltz. I am sorry for the family's loss.
Gretchen was an inspiration in my life!! I treasured our friendship every day, even when we lost touch after Katrina. Her smile and sense of humor will stay in my heart forever. And I'll never be able to look at a Stanley Steemer truck and not think of her <3

Gretchen was a truly wonderful and dedicated court reporting teacher. When I finished school 23 years ago, she wrote me a personal letter of encouragement that I have kept and still appreciate reading. Her words are a constant source of inspiration.
