Teresita "Tootsie" Williams Park Jeansonne's Obituary
Teresita "Tootsie" Williams Park Jeansonne died on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 in Covington, LA. Tootsie was born to the late Vicente Williams and Teresita Mitchell Coleman in New Orleans, LA. She was raised in New Orleans and attended Ursuline Academy. In her collegiate years, she attended Loyola University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism in 1956, with minors in French and History. While at Loyola, Tootsie was the editor of the school newspaper, The Maroon, and editor of the school yearbook, The Wolf.
While attending Loyola, Tootsie met the love of her life, Joseph (“Joe”) Allen Park. Tootsie and Joe married on June 2, 1956. Through their 59 years of marriage, Tootsie and Joe enjoyed living in the New Orleans area, McLean, VA, Gulfport, MS, and Mandeville, LA where they met many wonderful friends and formed long lasting friendships. Tootsie and Joe loved to travel and especially loved going on cruises.
After Joe passed away in 2015, Tootsie was lucky to find love again with Richard Michael Jeansonne of Mandeville, LA whom she wed on July 23, 2021. Together Tootsie and Richard were active in their church and loved to socialize with their family and friends in Mandeville.
Tootsie is survived by her husband, Richard Jeansonne, and her four children with Joe: Christina (Jose), Marilyn, Denise (Jeff), and Michael (Carolyn). She is also survived by her eight Grandchildren: Lauren (Gaines), Alexander, Daniel (Annie), Anna, James (Chengcheng), Madeline, Abigail (Daniel) and Thomas; and three Great Grandchildren: Mai Francis, Joseph Park, and Fei. Tootsie is also survived by the extended Jeansonne Family, including Richard’s sons Rick (Maureen), Andre (Kelli), Bryan (Gina), Ben, and Chris (Rhiannon). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
For all the many times Tootsie moved during her life to a new area, she always adjusted quickly and was eager to become involved in her new community, while developing dear friendships. Tootsie made an impact on those she met by her love, kindness and her infectious warmth. She was deeply committed to her Catholic faith and was always very active and involved with her parish church. When she was a parishioner at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mandeville, she started the monthly publication titled Peacetime.
As a cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Tootsie’s compassion and faith shaped her entire family, with her inspiring, resolute strength and abiding love carrying them through every season of life.
There will be a Funeral Mass at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1501 West Causeway Approach in Mandeville at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026. Visitation will be held at the Church prior to the Funeral Mass from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Abbey following the Funeral Mass.
