Talmage Lavon Myrick's Obituary
Talmage Lavon Myrick passed away peacefully at Christwood Retirement Community in Covington, LA on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the age of 94. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patty Curtis Myrick; parents, Tinnon G. Myrick and Myrtle McBride Myrick; brothers, Henry Gordon Myrick and Tinnon Gerald Myrick and son-in-law, David Bruce Scalfano. He is survived by his daughters, Kathryn Ann Scalfano and Jennifer Lynn Hamlin (Kenneth). He was the loving grandfather of Justin Matthew Scalfano (Jenny Marie), Janina Adelle Scalfano, Hannah Marie Hamlin (Jordan) and Ali Kaitlin Hamlin (Jake) and great-grandfather to Caden Borgeson. He is also survived by his sister, Delores Jeanette Myrick and numerous loving relatives.
He was born in Laurel, MS where he met his loving wife, Pat. He graduated from Mississippi State University and retired after many years as a Petroleum Geologist with Gulf Oil and Chevron. His career took him and his family to live in Nigeria, Angola, England, New Orleans, Houston and Oklahoma City. As a young man he served in the Navy Reserve for 7 years. He enjoyed gardening, music, singing, playing tennis, storytelling and spending time with his family.
His life was made full by his dear friends and Christwood family. During his last years, he was surrounded by many caring people, especially Laura Fussell who stood by his side. He was grateful to all of them for making his life full of joy.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life in the Garden Room at Christwood Retirement Community, 100 Christwood Blvd, Covington, LA. Visitation will be from 2:00-2:30pm with a service and light refreshments to follow from 2:30-4:30pm. Please sign the guestbook at www.ejfieldingfh.com.
