Sylvia John Roberson's Obituary
Sylvia John Roberson passed away Friday, August 15, 2025 in Covington, Louisiana. Sylvia was born in Flushing, New York on April 7, 1932. She moved with her family to New Smyrna Beach, Florida in 1951.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth J. Blankenship and Linda Blankenship Moskau; grandchildren John Duke (Tina), Kenneth Blankenship, Trina Blankenship, Mickey Moore (Audrey), and Rodrigo Blankenship (Logan); great grandchildren Jadi Hartman (Todd), Shane Moore, and Rocco Moore; great-great granddaughters Aubrey Folse and Tatum Hartman. She is also survived by her sister, Marie Louise Ketcham (Richard), and her nieces, Lisa Rowlison (Kevin) and Rosemary John.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald D. Roberson, her parents William and Frida Handloser John, and siblings Fred and William John.
Sylvia began her banking career at an early age in New York, and continued in New Smyrna Beach until 1973 when she moved to the New Orleans area. There she accepted a banking promotion at Gulf South Bank in Gretna, Louisiana. She remained in the banking industry, working for Merchants Bank in Kenner, Louisiana and Whitney Bank and Chase Bank in New Orleans, Louisiana, retiring in 2012.
She traveled to many parts of the country while working and being associated with the American Institute of Banking, and out of the country for fun and relaxation. Her very favorite place in the United States was Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where she spent many vacations with her sister, daughter, and niece.
In addition, she enjoyed crafting, sewing, decorating, reading, and being surrounded by her family. She also enjoyed spending time and playing with her grand-dog, Muffin, who she loved so much.
She will be missed tremendously by her family and all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Roberson may be made to a local pet rescue charity of your choice.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana 70433 on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM followed by interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens located directly behind the funeral home.
